The deluxe version of a necessary tool offers extra benefits. The design is also a screw-apart, two stage combination weight, but it is cast of smooth brass, shiny like a modern statue. The advantage is that brass can live in the moisture of fencing bags without corroding. There is also a hole drilled through the bottom section of the weight. This is a channel that checks the straightness of the foil or epee near the tip. If the top is bent or crimped, the weight won't settle directly on the point and you won't get a true reading on the state of the point. Useful and beautiful, shiny and exact, like a weight from an old apothecary shop.

If you carry a jack, wrenches and screwdrivers in a car, you carry a foil/epee weight in your tool kit. It's the equivalent of a tire gauge. It's a two stage screw-apart cylinder, with true point testing weight for foil (the lower part) or epee (the two screwed together). With it you can check foils or epees between bouts and avoid getting a surprise and a yellow card when you're actually ready to fence. It's a necessity for verifying the success of repairs at home or club and a blessing for strip-side checks. It's one of those invaluable tools that make an important operation easy...if you have it.

Connected this device to the 3-pin plug of any type and make of body cord. Then clip (affixed to the unit) the device to the fencer (knickers pocket, jacket, etc). And, you're off to fence-the device Buzzes every time the tip is pressed, including off-target areas (for foil). The electric tip on the weapon has to be compliant with FIE regulations, but there is no need for reels, machines, etc. Sounds can be adjusted for duration and tones! This device also functions as a weapons and body cord tester-you can hear the sounds and see the lights of broken circuits even when the interruptions last a millisecond. About 3" by 2" by ¾" thick; weighs 2.5 oz; works on 12V A23 long-lasting battery.
