Gary Gait: Becoming a Champion Lacrosse Player with Gary Gait: Stick Tricks & Dodging (DVD)
from Championship Productions
with Gary Gait,Syracuse University Women's Head Lacrosse Coach; former Colorado Mammoth (NLL) Head Coach, NLL Champions (2006); member of the United States Lacrosse National Hall of Fame (2005) and the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame In this one-of-a-kind DVD, lacrosse legend Gary Gait demonstrates the skills that has earned him the distinction of being called the "greatest lacrosse player of all time". Starting with the lacrosse stick, Gait carefully details the stick and the pocket. The basic cradle is dictated by the roll of your wrist and hand. Both the one- and two-hand cradle are demonstrated. Techniques for catching and protecting the ball are highlighted, as well as several different stick flips. Gait teaches throwing in two distinct parts; first, he concentrates on the hands and the arms away from the body. Learning to isolate the hands and arms develops control and the ability to throw in any direction, regardless of body position. When the body becomes involved, powerful shots and pinpoint passes can be made. Stick tricks include the 'behind the back' pass and the 'around the world' or 'reverse behind the back' pass. The 'handle slam' is another tricky maneuver demonstrated. Gait closes with the art of dodging. The bull, face and roll dodge are necessary dodging skills for all players and is completely broken down by Gait. 52 minutes. 2007.

Gary Gait: Coaching Boys Lacrosse - U11 Skills & Drills (DVD)
from Championship Prodcutions
with Gary Gait, Syracuse University Women's Head Coach, Coach of the NLL Champions (2006); member of the United States Lacrosse National Hall of Fame (2005) and the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame Lacrosse legend Gary Gait calls on his vast experience to provide you expert coaching instruction for Boys U11 lacrosse. Coach Gait is a big believer in line drills because players are on the move while executing these drills. He teaches his players to to keep the stick up and provide a target while catching on the run. Another basic skill is ground balls. A low, athletic stance is needed while players scoop up the ball on the run. Dodging is a skill taught by Gait, and is executed as a fake defense after passing. Other offensive concepts presented are popping the receiving, give and go and setting a pick. Competitive drills include ground ball drills, ground ball passes, dodging with defenders and live one-on-one. On the defensive side, Gait covers the proper stance, changing direction with use of a drop step and narrowing the channel, which is a defensive tactic to shrink the offensive player's channel to the net. This is a complete set of teaching points and drills for coaching lacrosse with boys under 11! 30 minutes. 2007.
CradleMaster - Orange
from Tice Holdings, LLC
- Allows safe indoor practice
- Prevents accidental damage to funiture and household items
- Helps ensure proper technique
The CradleMaster is a new, Patent Pending, lacrosse training device. It allows the player to safely cradle, and work on stick skills, using a regulation size/weight lacrosse ball without the ball being propelled out of the head. This product allows safe practice without the loss of "feel" that would happen with other, more restrictive devices. The CradleMaster is perfect for those inclement days where practicing stick skills outside is not possible. The CradleMaster prevents damage in the home as well as the possible injury to others by a loose ball. The CradleMaster is also great for increasing the effectiveness of practices. It allows players, during warmup/cooldown runs to spend more time running and cradling and less time chasing down the ball. The CradleMaster is great for practicing face-off techniques by oneself. It allows the player to practice "pinch & pops" alone without having to to go after the ball each time. The CradleMaster also helps prevent accidents that could happen when players jog on sidewalks or streets to stay in shape while cradling. Normally the risk is there that the ball will come out of the pocket and enter the street, possibly in traffic. No longer will you have to worry about this. The CradleMaster is excellent for both boys and girls lacrosse. The CradleMaster can help keep beginners from being frustrated and giving up. As you know, cradling can be difficult to master. Often, beginners get very frustrated with this and lose interest in the game because they have to keep chasing the ball around.
